[Jul. 5th, 2008|11:54 pm] |
Spent the day in Sedona! Me and yamiaudra brought some beers down to the creek and swam around in some freezing cold water, and after a storm blew in got dressed again and drove to the city, where we had some pizza and wine and walked around all the tourist shops until our buzz wore off. Then we drove home.
It was a good day. |

Presume spoilers in comments, just to be safe. Well. That, and me wanking it a bit. Gah. It's not like I wanted to hate it, but, I, argh. Sadness. |

| The Oncoming Wank |
[Jul. 6th, 2008|12:20 pm] |
So, now that the Doctor Who finale has been and gone, I have one question to ask of my flist:
What is going to cause the most wank in the upcoming weeks?
(I haven't seen the episode, but have been spoiled for it. Be as spoilery as you like in the comments) |

| SOME THINGS THAT WOULD BE NICE: |
[Jul. 6th, 2008|01:00 am] |
1: if my phone told me when its message inbox was full when it became full rather than telling me it's too full to receive new messages when someone sends me a new message that it can't receive. (I'm pretty sure I can't be bothered to get a new phone just because of this, though; the phone I have is so much elderly fail that it's kind of endearing. Polyphonic ringtones and colour displays are still futuristic and swish, in my world.)
2: if I had an internet connection that didn't haphazardly cut off at inopportune moments. (This house is finally getting a wireless router some time next week, but it'll go in my parents' room and I fear they'll be turning it off when they go to bed every evening. At ten thirty.)
3: if I had more money. (I'm going to be working all next week, but not paid. :C 3 Mills will look reasonably cool on my CV, though.)
4: if, when I read in my head the messages I've typed, it would stay in my voice rather than the voices of any of my RP characters. (Inevitable side-effect of imagining character voices to write them; freaks me out more than it probably should.)
5: a kitten.
I'm honestly considering going to be British at people in Disneyland for a year, but this would probably be a bad idea, not least because the only other thing of personal note in Florida is someone I'd sooner avoid but also because you know, A YEAR, and DISNEYLAND WTF, but for some reason it's remaining on my "to consider" list. what
( also re: doctor who! )
On a happier note, here is a picture I thought I'd share outside of daisychainrpg because everyone loves Demyx and everyone loves Lilo & Stitch and I don't think you need much context to appreciate it.

I met suzie_shooter yesterday! We discussed Zombie Piers Morgan and played 'How Many Landmarks That Doctor Who Has Destroyed Can You Spot?' on the London Eye (final count: three, not including the Eye itself as that was only used as a transmitter). I always think 'surely the next Internet person I meet must be a murderer?', but no, they continue to be lovely non-murderous people! Although she did display a rather worrying desire to murder the living statues.
And, of course, tonight was the fourth-series finale of Doctor Who. I suppose I should talk about that, then.
( Spoilers for 'Journey's End'. )
IN CONCLUSION, THERE SHOULD BE RUSSELL T. DAVIES/ERIC KRIPKE FANFICTION. |

I am bored and sick and Doctor Who isn't going to be on my computer for hours. I'm sick of TV and writing stuff.
SO AMUSE ME BY ASKING ME FOR MY OPINIONS ON FANDOMY THINGS. Or tell me your opinions. Or we can bond over how much things in this life have failed us.

OMF'inG. Joss Whedon on the Internet, Nathan Fillion in rubber gloves, and Neil Patrick Harris in a no-pants labcoat and goggles. The best thing to come out of the WGA strike since proper paychecks. Fuck yeah.
Meanwhile, last night was awesome. Last night was precisely what I miss about Bloomington. Last night was (after having a most delicious meal at tyjero's folks') hanging out with tyjero, then spontaneously having neilworms join us, then his friend Alan, then even more spontaneously going to a late-night coffee house and meeting this cool new guy Chico. And all of it surrounded in good conversation about a variety of topics.
If I could make the majority of my group interactions like this here in Cincinnati, I'd be a very happy panda.
( merryhellraiser, I still have Shin-chan stuck in my head. :DDD )
Now back to sleep because my 9:00am coffee date was canceled due to poor Dora getting a swollen foot. ;_; |

| *puts La Vie Boheme on repeat* |
[Jul. 5th, 2008|10:16 pm] |
So, my thing what I did today: Went and saw keldaryth (and co) in RENT.
Which was actually quite good. Last time I saw a production of Rent - couple of years back, big budget thing in the CBD - it made me cry, and pre-viewing I decided that'd be my personal marker of quality. And this one made me cry, too.
The singing was really great, and some of the cast was really fab. Choreography was rather good, too, though I thought the dancing could have used more rehearsal. Then again, that's the problem with me having done all those years of Ballet (and other dancing miscellanery) - I am ridiculously nit-picky when it comes to dance performances.
But still, 'twas rather fun. And filled up a day of my time, which is something.
Apart from that, I have done... very little as of late. I finished my last handbag book du jour (Basically, I carry it in my bag so I have something to read on the tram. Or when I'm in a cafe on my own).
Anyhoo, finished The Princess Bride - I've seen the film of course, but this was the first time I'd read the book. I must say, I'm rather impressed at how much the dialogue turns out to be taken directly from the book. What happens when the screenwriter is the original author (Or abridger, shall we say).
New handbag book is Deucalion by Brian Caswell - he was one of my favourite authors at about 14, and I'm rereading some of his books for the first time since then.
And my main thought so far is holy shit, I really was clueless of the wider world back then. At 14, I just liked the book because it was sci-fi with telepatic aliens and a government conspiracy about psychic experiments.
Now I'm reading it, and all I can see is the not-the-slightest-bit-subtle criticism of colonialism and the treatment of Aboriginals by European settlers.
I'm not sure if I should be pleased that I've actually managed to learn something since then, or facepalm at just how ignorant I was. |
